An open house for Maine Behavioral Healthcare’s new Center for Autism and Developmental Disorders at 236 Gannett Drive in South Portland will be held from 3-5 p.m. on Wednesday, March 25.

The Center, which opened in November 2014 as an outgrowth of the Developmental Disorders Unit at Spring Harbor Hospital, provides a full continuum of treatment services for autistic and developmentally challenged children, adolescents and their families.

A March 18 open house was tailored for school-based providers, clinicians and other guests. The March 25 open house is for families and parents of children with autism and other developmental disorders. Guests may attend.

The free open house will include a tour of the facility and a 45-minute presentation titled, “Is It Sensory or Behavior?” given by Bruce Chemelski, Ph.D., senior psychologist for the Developmental Disorders Program at Spring Harbor Hospital, and Mary Anderson, an occupational therapist with extensive experience working with children with autism and developmental disorders.
