After dropping its first game of the season to Bonny Eagle, the South Portland boy’s basketball team has rattled off four straight wins.

Last Tuesday, led by Coleman Findlay and Will Furbush, the Red Riots won at Windham 62-35.

Findlay led all scorers with 24 points while Furbush knocked down four 3-pointers to finish with 16. The Red Riots played consistently throughout the game, outscoring the Eagles 31-17 and 31-18 in the first and second halves respectively.

On Friday, Rob Moreau came off the bench and scored 11 points, helping the Red Riots win at Thornton Academy, 48-38. Moreau had scored just three points in South Portland’s first four games combined.

The Red Riots led by 10 at the half. Thornton cut the margin to five by the end of the third quarter, but, led by Moreau, South Portland held of the Trojans’ late charge for its third consecutive road victory.

South Portland returns home Jan. 2 for a game against Noble.

Cape Elizabeth fell at York, 63-58, Friday.

The second quarter doomed the Capers as they were outscored, 20-7, and trailed 30-21 at the half. Although Cape outscored York in the second half, the margin was too much to overcome.

Austin Brown led Cape with 17 points. Tom Ray added 14 and Will Hall had 13. Hall knocked down three from beyond the arc.

Cape Elizabeth rebounded from two straight losses and defeated Traip Academy, 70-58, at home on Thursday, Dec. 21.

Shaine Burks scored a game-high 17 points while Tom Ray (11) and Will Hall (10) were also in double digits. Hall had two 3-pointers.

Cape used 21-12 second quarter to build a 13-point halftime lead.

Cape is home against Yarmouth Jan. 3.
