Egg them on
The annual Easter Egg Hunt will be held on Saturday, March 22 at 4 p.m. Children ages 5 and under at will hunt at Newbegin Gym. Children ages 6 and over will hunt at Russell School. This is a rain or shine (or snow) event.
A mystery dinner
Good Shepherd United Methodist Church will be presenting a hilarious Mystery Dinner Theatre offering, “Mother Goose’s Grim Tales” on Saturday, March 29 at 6:30 p.m., Friday, April 4 at 7 p.m. and Saturday, April 5, again at 6:30 p.m. The dinner theatre will be held at Spring Meadows Banquet Center on Route 100 in Gray.
Come and try to solve the mystery before the detective can. Compete with other tables to see who will win the evening’s prizes. Tickets are $30 per person including show, dinner, dessert and gratuity. Tables of 8 may be reserved for a reduced price of $220, which is $27.50 per person. Good reading
Some new books have been added this month to the Gray Public Library. In the children’s section “Baby” by Joseph Monninger, a story about a troubled teen and sled dogs, “Seeing Red,” by Frank Beddor is the second book in the Looking Glass Wars, “Touching Snow,” by Sindy Felin is a story of how to live and deal with a stepfather who is abusive, and “Bluebloods” by Melissa De La Cruz is a story of rich teen vampires living in Manhattan.
For adults the new titles for this month are “Change of Heart” by Jodi Picolt, “Killer Heat,” by Linda Fairstein, “Compulsion,” by John Kellerman and “Blue Eyed Devil,” by Lisa Kleypas.

Roots of the family tree
The Gray Historical Society invites you to experience the fun of researching your family tree. A meeting introducing basic genealogy search techniques will be held in the comfort of the historical society’s research room at Pennell Institute on Thursday, April 3 at 6:30 p.m.
Instruction will be given in the use of information found in vital records, cemetery records, the Maine Register, York Deeds books and genealogy records of many local families, all available in the society research room.

Paying for snow days
The loss of nine student instructional days due to the harsh winter creates a need to adjust the SAD #15 school calendar for 2007/08. The school board approved the following calendar changes for the remainder of this school year: the March 28 teacher in-service day is now a student instructional day for K-12, the April 18 teacher comp day is now a student instructional day for K-12, the last instructional day for all K-11 students will be June 23. Any additional lost school days will be added sequentially to the calendar after June 23.

Suppertime
Got a bunch of people coming for Easter Dinner? Well, take a break the night before and come to the public supper at the Gray Congregation Church on Brown Street. There will be plenty of good food and good company and no dishes to wash. Dinner will be served Saturday, March 22, from 5- 6 p.m.
Tractor safety
A farm tractor safety course will be begin Tuesday April 22. The course will run five consecutive Tuesday evenings from 6:30-8:30 p.m. at the Maine Forest Service Building on Route 26 in Gray. The deadline to register is April 15 and course fee is $10. Participants should be at least 13 years old. Not too early to help
The Caring Community of GNG is looking for knitters, crocheters or seamstresses to donate hats, scarfs, mittens or sweaters (child and adult sizes) again this year.
Some yarn is available and so is a very easy hat pattern. Please contact Donna Rand at 657-4795 if you need yarn or would like the pattern. Also stocking stuffers and games are being accepted. Get a jump on your projects and make someone’s holiday warm and joyous this year.
MUSH drive is on
The Gray-New Gloucester Optimist Club is still collecting mittens, underwear, socks, sweats and hats that are then donated to the elementary school nurses in Gray and New Gloucester. While all these items are still needed school nurse Ann Baiocchi informs us that the health offices could really use some sweatpants and tops in all sizes from 4 to 16/18.
