Schoolhouse Arts Center at Sebago Lake is offering a wide variety of classes in the arts this fall. Classes start September 20 and run through December 3. Tuition for classes varies from $50 to $150.

Theater classes for children and youth at Schoolhouse include Storybook Theater for ages 6-10, Acting I for ages 10-12, and Acting II for ages 13-18. There are two theater ensemble groups this fall including How to Eat Like a Child Musical Theater Ensemble for ages 11-18 and the Children’s Theater Ensemble for ages 8-12. Both ensembles will work on productions to be presented on the Schoolhouse stage.

Auditions for the How to Eat Like a Child Musical Theater will be Monday, Sept. 12, from 6 to 8:30 p.m. with the final production being performed from May 5-7, 2006 There are no auditions for the Children’s Theater Ensemble and their final production will be performed in December. A new class this fall is Stagecraft for ages 13-18 which will give students basic instruction in set and lighting design, as well as the opportunity to work on the Summer 2006 production of “Peter Pan,” and gain hands-on experience on other Schoolhouse productions. For adults, Schoolhouse offers an Adult Improvisation class for ages 18 and up. This class promises to be loads of fun as the adults get a chance to play some theater games and work on improvisation techniques.

Music classes for children and youth at Schoolhouse include Voice I for ages 8-12 and Voice II for ages 13-18. Guitar is being offered again this fall for all ages, as well as the Beginning Youth Orchestra. This orchestra is a great opportunity for youth of all ages to play their instrument with a group and gain exposure to orchestra music. For the adults, Schoolhouse offers an Adult Voice class for ages 18 and up.

Art classes for children and youth at Schoolhouse include Big Messy Art for ages 6-10, Dimensions of Painting for ages 7 and up, Drawing from Life for ages 8-12, Intermediate Drawing Studio for ages 12 and up, and Photography for ages 12 and up. New this fall is a Quilting class for ages 9 and up. Students will complete a quilting project during this class. And, back by popular demand is our pre-school art classes on Thursday mornings for ages 2-5. These morning pre-school classes give mom (or dad) an opportunity to get out of the house while their preschoolers explore art and make the mess at Schoolhouse.

Dance classes for children and youth at Schoolhouse include Beginning Ballet, Beginning Tap, Kiddie Hop, and Mommy & Me Dance for ages 4-7, Introduction to Tap & Ballet, Lyric Dance, and Hip Hop for ages 8-12, and Jazz Funk for ages 10-14. Pre-school classes in Toddler/Parent Creative Movement for ages 2-3 and Creative Dance and Movement for ages 4-5 will be offered on Thursday mornings along with the pre-school art classes to give mom (or dad) a morning out with their pre-schooler.

Schoolhouse Arts Center is a non-profit organization dedicated to learning and creating for family and community. All classes are taught by experienced instructors. Schoolhouse is located near the intersection of Routes 35 and 114 in Sebago Lake Village.
