FREEPORT – The Freeport Town Council finally has a full compliment of members.

In a special election held on Tuesday, Dec. 2, voters elected David S. Gleeson, Jr., as the new council representative from District 1. Gleeson was elected to replace former District 1 Councilor Sara Gideon, who resigned after her family moved out of the district.

Voter turnout was light in the special election, with only 36 votes cast. Gleeson, who was the only candidate listed on the ballot, garnered 34 votes to win the seat. Write-in candidate Daniel J. Collins received the other two votes.
