Saturday, July 12: The Windham High School volleyball team’s car wash will be held 10 a.m.-2 p.m. at NAPA Auto Parts in North Windham. Also that day, have your returnable bottles ready for pick-up. The Lady Eagles will be in Windham and Raymond collecting door to door on Saturday. If you would like team members to come to your neighborhood, call 233-5487.

Through July 18: New Gloucester photographer Cally Peaco exhibits at Auburn Public Library a series entitled, “Lady Working in the Milkhouse, Farm and Reflections.” The display is in the Androscoggin Room at the library located at 49 Spring St. The library is open Monday-Saturday.
July 9-Aug. 13: Vacation Bible School takes place Wednesday evenings from 6-7:45 p.m. from July 9-Aug. 13 at Standish Congregational Church, Oak Hill Road. Children in grades K-8 are welcome. A light supper is provided. For more information or to register, contact the church at 642-3386.
July 12: The Knights of Columbus, Windham Council hosts a barbecued chicken dinner 5-6 p.m. at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church, Route 302, North Windham. Adults are $9, children (12 and under): are $4, Family max: $25. The menu includes barbecues chicken breasts, homemade potato salad, garden salad, rolls, coffee, tea, punch and homemade dessert buffet. Proceeds from the dinner will go toward funding Maine Special Olympics, providing opportunities for those with disabilities to participate and compete.
July 12: From 11 a.m.-2 p.m. at the Maine Wildlife Park in Gray, meet representatives from the Gems of Route 26, a consortium of six unique points of interest located along the Route 26 corridor between Gray and South Paris and all within a span of less than 30 miles. The Gems of Route 26 offer unique museums, parks, attractions & retreats along this scenic stretch of a road less traveled. The Maine Wildlife Park is the first ‘Gem’ you’ll find on Route 26, and driving north takes you next to the Sabbathday Lake Shaker Village, the Poland Spring Resort, the Poland Spring Preservation Society, and Poland Spring Park, all the way to McLaughlin Garden in South Paris.
Sunday, July 13: Raymond Village Library Annual Book Sale kicks off from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. This is a great opportunity to add that special book to your collection or to find an interesting novel to read at your convenience. The prices are low and the choices are great. The sale will continue through August.
July 13: Raymond Hill Baptist Church, built in 1834, will be opening its doors for a Summer Sunday Series “They Met Jesus.” The series will run four Sundays, July 13-Aug. 3, 11 a.m.-noon. Guest speaker is Bible teacher Randy Reynolds. The church is located on the Raymond Hill Road in Raymond. Come early and come casual.
July 18-19: The Saco Valley Fiber Artists will present its annual Summer Textile Workshop on July 18 and 19 at Shearbrooke Farm in Standish. A variety of classes will be offered, including: rug making, inkle weaving, knitting a linen stitch scarf, felting, silk painting, spinning and many more. Sign up for classes on one or both days and enjoy a gourmet lunch included in the 65$ per day fee. July 18-19: Always the third weekend in July, this year’s 36th edition of Sebago Days event takes place from 5-10 p.m. on Friday, July 18, and Saturday, July 19, from noon-10 p.m. in the town of Sebago. Activities range from musical entertainment, food, a parade, fireworks, a fun run and even laser tag. Saturday, Aug. 2: Amvets Post 6 Auxiliary in New Gloucester will be having its annual flea market from 9 a.m.-2 p.m. at the post’s home on Route 100, New Gloucester. New and used items, unique crafts and collectables will be available. Rain or shine. Table rentals available at $15. Call Joyce at 926-4693 or Sally at 926-3371 to reserve your table for this event. Proceeds to benefit the auxiliary’s yearly projects, including support of the New Gloucester Veteran’s Monument. A baked goods table will benefit the Scholarship Fund.
