The Southwestern Maine Activities Association recently announced their 2006 boys soccer all-star team and the West A regional champs from Scarborough had plenty of honorees.

Red Storm players Phil Lambert (back), Cody Powers (midfield) and Eddie Jones (forward) all made the first team, with Tyler Tait (back), Brent Mayo (midfield) and Buddy Reid (forward) all getting selected to the second team. In addition, Adam Blanchard (goalkeeper) and Jason Philbrook (midfield) were both honorable mention choices.

Scarborough’s all-academic players were Brent Mayo and Jason Philbrick.

Endy Carrera (forward) of South Portland was a second team all-star and teammate Will Furbush (midfield) was an honorable mention selection.

South Portland’s all-academic players were William Cabana, Kyle Hemes, Andrew Legere, and Benjamin McCall.

Other first team selections included: Brian Pearsall of Sanford; Eben Perkins (back) and Travis Rand (midfield) of Westbrook; Chris Gassman (back) and Jeff Dube (forward) of Kennebunk; Kyle Perkins (back), Jake Brown (midfield), Joel Mundy (forward) and Zach Stover (forward) of Gorham; and Tony Yeboah (midfield) of Deering.

The second team all-stars also included: Chad Boucher of Thornton; Galen Perkins (goalkeeper) of Westbrook; Joe Caiazzo (back) of Cheverus; Kyle Donaldson (back) of Gorham; Anthony Passmore (back) and Chris Urban (forward) of Portland; Dylan O’Connor (midfield) of Windham; and Conor Fin (forward) of Kennebunk.

Honorable Mention selections included: Mike Cronin of Thornton; Cory Gratello of Biddeford; Kyle Blaylock (back), Pat Somma (back) and Kuba Rucinski (midfield) of Deering; Malcolm Macomber (back) of Cheverus; Nate Jewell (midfield) of Bonny Eagle; Adam Cole (forward) of Marshwood; Brian Cooke (forward) and Zack Johnson (forward) of Westbrook; Kirk Jurgelevich (forward) of Portland; and Eric Walton (forward) of Windham.

The SMAA Coach of the Year was Nate Bean of Kennebunk.
