Unity Church in Windham will present Kell Kearns, director of a new documentary movie entitled “The Consciousness of the Christ: Reclaiming Jesus For a New Humanity” for an interactive workshop in early March.
Kearns will be at the church, located at 54 River Road in Windham on Saturday, March 4 from 1 to 5 p.m.
Kell will also speak at the 10 a.m. Sunday Service, March 5 on “The Historical Jesus.”
Since a common response to his film is that people want to “learn more, to discuss, to ask questions, and to watch the film again,” the church will provide an opportunity for people to see the film again or watch it for the first time after the service. This will start at 12:30 p.m. and run to 3 p.m., with time allowed at the conclusion of the film for questions for Kearns.
Kearns is a veteran writer, filmmaker and spiritual activist who has produced such films as The Arms Race Within, In Remembrance of Martin (a tribute to Martin Luther King), The Healing of Brian Willson and The Age of the Great Goddess.
Of “The Consciousness of Christ,” he says, “I refuse to yield the universal Christ of universal love to a fundamentalism that is the tool of violence, prejudice, domination, and wealth that exploits and oppresses the impoverished. Jesus knew that through personal and collective transformation we can do away forever with these great plagues which have brought us to the edge of global destruction. The principles of this New Humanity are what his earliest followers lived.”
Admission for the Saturday workshop on March 4 from 1 to 5 p.m. at the door is $50. Pre-registration is $40.
Tickets for the Sunday showing, from 12:30-3 p.m., are $20 at the door or $15 if pre-registered.
