A female teenager was taken to Maine Medical Center after her car rolled over in a single car accident about 4 p.m. on Tuesday on Fort Hill Road in Gorham.
Gorham Officer Dana Thompson said the driver was traveling north when she thought a car was pulling out of a driveway into her path. “She veered to the left, lost control and rolled over,” Thompson said. “She swerved quick.”
The car went down an embankment and came to rest on the roof, facing south on the opposite side and several feet from the highway. Police declined to reveal the identity of the driver, who taken by Standish Rescue to the hospital for an evaluation. “She was lucky,” Thompson said.
Thompson, the investigating officer, said the driver was wearing a seatbelt but airbags in the car did not deploy. The driver was alone in the car, a four door Saturn.
Thompson said driver inexperience could have been a contributing factor in the accident.
