The city’s household hazardous chemical collection day is scheduled for Saturday, Sept. 23 at the High School football field parking lot on Stroudwater Street from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., rain or shine.

The program is for Westbrook residents only. Proof of residency is required. The collection is designed to remove hazardous materials from households in Westbrook

Items such as: oil based paints, solvents, old gasoline, swimming pool chemicals, antifreeze, batteries, small amounts of mercury, fluorescent bulbs will be accepted at the collection point.

Examples of items that will not be collected at this event are: computer monitors, televisions, propane tanks, latex paint, asbestos siding.
