Golf
Coach: Bill McGary

Key players: The Capers have five seniors returning – Wilson LaPrade, Ben Burman, Ben Morse, Brad Dickinson, Rob MacDonald and one junior – Will LeBlond
Key matches this season: York, Greely and Falmouth
Season outlook: “(We are) looking forward to a good season and to the regionals to qualify for the state tournament and see what damage we can do there,” McGary said.
Boys cross country
Coach: Derek Veilleux
Last year’s record: Second in the Western Maine Conference, fourth in Western B regionals and fourth at the Class B state championships
Key athletes: Reid Douty, Leo Ledman, Paul Trantina, Thomas Bottomley, Thomas Robinson, Matt Barksdale, Peter Doane, Liam Simpson and Julian Pelzar
Key meets this season: Western Maine Conference meet, regionals and states
Season outlook: “The team was fourth in the state last fall, our goal will be to improve throughout the season so that we are running our best in late October,” Veilleux said. “The team worked hard this summer to prepare for the season. We have the talent if we stay healthy to contend with anyone in the state. We don’t have a lot of depth right now, hopefully that doesn’t come back to bite us in the end. There is a big influx of freshman this fall which is great for the program, being a first year head coach, this has me not only excited about the season but the future as well.”
Girls cross country
Coach: Mary Ann Doss
Key athletes: Rachel Nichols: senior, Kelsey Barton: senior, Emma Inhorn: sophomore, Catherine Tierney: junior, Ellen Best: sophomore, Lydia Berman: senior, Dana Hatton: freshman, Natalie Rand: freshman and Emily Labosco: freshman.
Key meets this season: York, Falmouth
Season outlook: “Once again we plan to contend for our fourth straight state championship title,” Doss said. “We have a great amount of depth this year, very talented freshman, previous state individual track champions, and a slew of other girls who have vastly improved over last season. I expect great things from captains Rachel Nichols (4th place finish at last year’s state meet) and Kelsey Barton (9th place finish at last year’s state meet). Catherine Tierney and Emma Inhorn will be at the top as well which will help strengthen the team, as well as Ellen Best and Lydia Berman. I am also excited about our new talented freshman and I believe at least one or two of them will be in my top seven as the season progresses. I know the girls have set fantastic goals for the season and if everyone stays healthy it should be another exciting and successful season for the girls.”
Field hockey
Coach: Darci Holland
Last year’s record: 4-9-1

Season outlook: “We graduated six last year; we are very young and have small numbers this year; so we won’t have a lot coming off the bench for us,” Holland said. “We have a talented group back who have played with each other for several years. We look to contend, but we need to work on scoring the goals and we are pretty strong defensively.”
Girls soccer
Coach: Gary Newell
Last year’s record: 6-8
Key players: Anna Darling – senior captain/defense. “Anna is the backbone of all we do” Newell said. “(She shows) outstanding athleticism, courage and drive. Anna leads our defense and has always done anything asked of her.” Karyn Barrett – senior captain/midfield, Lexi Weatherbie – senior captain/keeper and Maddy Riker – sophomore/midfield
Key games this season: “All of them, as missing the playoffs is not an option this season or any for that matter,” Newell said.
Season outlook: Newell’s goals for the Capers this season are simple, he expects that the team will make a return to the playoffs.
