A diver killed Wednesday in an apparent diving accident in Portland was identified Thursday morning by Portland police as Dennis McGrath, 56, of Scarborough.

Police say McGrath was diving under the fishing vessel Jamie & Ashley, which was docked at the Portland Fish Pier at 300 Commercial St. He was removing tangled line from the prop and shaft at the time of his death.

The incident remains under investigation, but does not appear suspicious. The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner is also investigating.
