Randy Judkins of the Maine Hysterical Society will be master of ceremonies for the Friends of Scarborough Marsh dinner and auction fundraiser, Friday starting with a silent auction at 5:30 p.m., at St. Maximilian Kolbe Church on Black Point Road in Scarborough.
The fundraiser also includes a buffet dinner and a live auction. Businesses and individuals have donated more than 200 items that will be auctioned to support the Critical Edge Fund. Lucky bidders will walk away at the end of the evening with sporting equipment, trips, artwork, services, furniture, luggage and other treasures.
Wildlife biologists describe the critical edge as that 250-500 feet of land on the upland edge of the Scarborough Marsh. This upland edge is threatened by significant development pressure and is vitally important to the overall health of Scarborough Marsh.
Those who cannot attend but would like to make a contribution to the Critical Edge Fund can send a check to Friends of Scarborough Marsh, PO Box 7049, Scarborough, Maine 04070. The Friends of Scarborough Marsh is an all-volunteer private, nonprofit organization. Information about the accomplishments of Friends of Scarborough Marsh can be found at www.ScarboroughMaine.com/marsh.
