Church talent show
Bar Mills Community Church is sponsoring a talent show entitled “A Joyful Noise” at 7 p.m. on Saturday at the church 13 Hermit Thrush Drive (off Portland Road and next to the fire station).

Conn on dean’s list
Alanna Conn has been named to the dean’s list for the fall semester at Roger Williams University in Bristol, R.I. Conn is a communications major.
Community spirit recognized
Several people were honored during last week’s selectmen’s meeting for their contributions to the community.
Presenting a Legislative sentiment, Rep. Don Marean, R-Hollis, honored three Bonny Eagle Middle School students, who helped serve 84 people at a free Thanksgiving Day community dinner that was sponsored by the Narragansett Temple 111 Pythian Sisters.
The three are Marley Harmon along with sisters Sara and Kendra Gorham. Marean described the trio’s contribution as “above and beyond.”
Also, Most Excellent Chief of the Pythian Sisters Carolyn Moore presented a plaque to Joann Groder as the founder and director the Community Food Co-op. Groder also has been involved 52 years as a Pythian Sister.
Moore also recognized several members of Groder’s family who have been active in the Pythian Sisters and the Thanksgiving dinner. Groder’s daughter, Debbie Thombs, and Groder’s granddaughters, Joann Gorham and Jennifewr Webber, are member. Groder’s two other daughters, Cathy Brackett and Cindy Gorham with her husband, Keith Gorham, lend a hand.
Moore also had a certificate to be presented later to Lindsey Somerset, 13, for community service at the food co-op.
