Golf tourney plans
Foursomes for the annual Sappi Golf Tournament at the Gorham Country Club should contact organizers no later than Friday, Aug. 15.
A shotgun start for the tournament, which will be held rain or shine, will be at 8 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 6. The entry fee is $65 per player or $37 for Gorham Country Club members. The fee includes a green fee, golf cart, barbecue and prizes.

‘Blast from the past’
Gorham High School classes 1970 through 1974 are planning a class reunion, 6 p.m. to midnight on Sept. 27 at Verrillo’s in Portland.

Barrow earns degree
Stephanie L. Barrow received a bachelor of science degree in business administration in May at Western New England College in Springfield, Mass.
Barrow, who graduated cum laude, was also named to the president’s list for the spring semester.
Dean’s list students
Gorham students Meghan Anne Norton and Kristina C. Cossar were named to the deans’ lists for the spring semester.
Norton was named as a sophomore majoring in management at Bentley College in Waltham, Mass.
Cossar received the honor as a senior studying sports management at Western New England College in Springfield, Mass.
Summer nearly history
Gorham schools for kindergarten through ninth grade open in just 20 days on Wednesday, Aug. 27, with grades 10, 11 and 12 beginning on Thursday, Aug. 28.
Say cheese
The Gorham town clerk’s office, which has been a passport agent since 2001, is now able to take passport photos as well at a fee of $10 per person. Passport applications are accepted between 8:30 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. Monday through Friday.

Free bulbs recycling offers
Phinney Lumber, 519 Fort Hill Road, Gorham, will accept unbroken compact florescent light bulbs for recycling free of charge.
The Home Depot at all its locations also is offering compact florescent light recycling service.
Customers can leave CFL bulbs with a store associate for recycling.
U.S. taxpayer debt
The Bureau of Public Debt reported on July 31 that the U.S. public debt was $9,585,479,639,200.33.
