Pack 85 registration

Gorham’s Cub Scout Pack 85 is having its fall sign-up night on Wednesday.

The pack invites parents and boys from Grades 1-5 to attend an informational night that will take place at their monthly pack meeting, from 6:30-7:30 p.m., at the The Old Robie School, formerly the PTA building, on Gray Road in Little Falls.

Brenda Orach, secretary and den leader, said Pack 85 serves the Little Falls, White Rock and North Gorham area. She said the meeting is for the parents and an opportunity for the boys to meet some of the Cub Scouts and see what takes place as part of scouting.

“The program is great opportunity for the young boys to learn valuable lessons and skills and a chance to venture on hikes, field trips, camping and do crafts along with making new friends,” Orach said.

Orach said the boys have a monthly pack meeting to receive their awards, update their parents, do skits and games or a project and meet as a den once or twice a month. She said there are different levels; first Tigers, then Wolfs, Bears, Webelos I and Webelos II.

In Grade 5, they cross over to the Boy Scouts. The many outings and the Pinewood Derby are some the highlights of scouting, as well as the summer programs such as Fun Pack weekend and Cub Scout Day Camp.
