Kiwanis 5 Michaud Distributors 4

Another hard fought, tight game between two evenly-matched teams. Kiwanis’s pitching battery of Zack Pelczar, Evan Lenardson and Matt Brown held Michaud to five scoreless innings, before four runs were given up on a grand slam home run blast by Michaud’s John Gonzalez. Apparently this was a fitting payback for the grand slam hit against Michaud in these teams first meeting. A two-run home run by Matt Brown was another highlight of the game.

Kiwanis 9 Lions 8

This was a very close contest between two teams who fought hard and stayed focused. For Kiwanis, some of the excitement came from solid pitching performances by starter Peter Krahe and rookie reliever Nick Suchecki. Also of note was Seth Albert’s 3 for 4 hitting, Peter Krahe’s long double and Alex Goodwin’s first career home run.

Al’s Variety 9 Kiwanis 6

Al’s Variety continued its strong start (3-0) behind pitching from Conor McCann and JD Herrman, handing Kiwanis its first loss of the year Saturday, 9-6. After a tough first inning, Max Kendall settled into n outstanding pitching performance, his first of the year. Kendall isplayed veteran poise in managing the hot bats of Al’s, and had an xcellent defensive effort behind him. Alex Goodwin continued his orrid start, smashing a low and away fastball 20 feet beyond the right center fence at Wiley, his second of the early season. Goodwin relieved Kendall, and the game went down to the last out of the sixth inning, the third out coming with the bases juiced. Clean up hitter Matt Brown was kept in the park by McCann and Herrman, but still went 3 for 4. Al’s offense was lead by hot second year players Jared Bell and Ben Farrino, along with rookies Zach Carriero, Christian Neelon and Ben Neugebaur.

Royals beat Fire Dept.

Ben Greenberg of the Royals contributed mightily with his pitching and batting performances. Greenberg hit for the cycle, (homerun, triple, double, and single) while pitching four strong innings earning 10 strikeouts and allowing no hits during his stint. Cody Tracey and Matt Hartl completed the shutout for the Royals on the mound. Austin Downing and Trevor LaRose chipped in with 2 hits a piece contributing in the win. The Royals now stand 2-1 for the season.

Kiwanis 17 Aero 8

For Kiwanis, two rookies provided impressive pitching performances: starter Evan Lenardson and reliever Nick Suchecki. Kiwanis showed some great hustle on the base paths; Seth Albert got 3 hits again and Matt Brown hit another homer. Aaron Ravin, Kyle Murchison turned in valiant pitching efforts and Austin Pemberton had a scoreless inning in his Little League debut as a closer. A nifty unassisted double-play was turned by Ben Sirois at first base in the

sixth inning to help Pemberton.

Michaud Distributors beat Aero 11 – 4 on Saturday. Joe Cronin was solid in his start for Michaud, allowing one hit while striking out 7 in just over three innings. Jake Michaud pitched well in relief. John Gonzalez led the offensive attack, hitting his second homerun of the season, one of his three hits for the day. He also scored three runs and had three RBI. Ben Griffith also had three hits for Michaud, knocking in two runs.

Aero’s offense was led by Zach Brown who had two hits for the day.

Michaud Dist. 17 Knights of Columbus 11

Knights of Columbus and Michaud Distributors made up a rained out game on Sunday at Peterson Field. Michaud jumped to a strong nine run lead against a valiant effort by Mikey Caryl, who was pitching for the 1st time in Little League.

Both teams had good hitting, good defense, and aggressive base running. Although K. of C. spotted Michaud nine runs in the first inning, they managed to make a game of it, with the help from pitchers Willy Gardner, Dan Slavin, and David Bibeau. Although K of C played hard they came up a little short in a 17 – 11 loss.

The Michaud team was led offensively by Joe Cronin who had two doubles, two walks, and four RBI. Johnny Passarelli and John Gonzalez also had two hits each while Mitch Summerson knocked in the eventual gamewinner for his first RBI of the young season.

Michaud Dist. 11 Lions 5

Michaud Distributors won their third game in three days Monday night against a resilient Lions team by a score of 11 – 5.

John Gonzalez, Joe Cronin, and Mitch Summerson all had multiple hit games. Joe Cronin had a single, a double, and two RBI’s and Gonzalez scored three runs and knocked in two.

Mitch Summerson had an RBI single that plated the eventual game winner and Dan Frank broke the game open in the fourth with an RBI single. Patrick Stanton also knocked in his first run of the season and Darren Guerette hit his first double of the season.

Johnny Passarelli was the pitching story for Michaud, making his first pitching appearance of the year in relief of Darren Guerette. Pazz came in in the third inning and shut down the Lions offense, striking out 7 in just over 3 innings of this game shortened due to darkness.

The Lions offense was led by Andrew Jones who reached base safely four times on two hits, a walk, and an error.
