The Gorham police are urging motorcyclists to wear helmets and protective clothing after a motorcycle collided with an antique car last week on Route 25 in Gorham.
Paul Gaylord, 46, of Cornish, who was riding a 2001 Harley Davidson, was hospitalized with head injuries after crashing his motorcycle at 5 p.m. on June 21. Police said Gaylord was not wearing a helmet.
According to the police report, Gaylord was traveling eastbound and passing other traffic on the right when he collided with a 1929 Franklin four-door car, that was also going eastbound, driven by Richard Pratt, 50, of Gorham. Pratt was attempting to turn right onto Files Road.
Sgt. Robert Mailman and Officer Michael Coffin responded to the accident. Gorham police Lt. Chris Sanborn also urged operators “to follow the rules of the road.”
A spokesman at Maine Medical Center in Portland said Thursday that Gaylord had been treated and discharged.
