A candlelight memorial service for Ethel Lewis will be held at 8 p.m. on Friday, May 4, at the Lewis Farm, 743 Long Plains Road, Buxton. Lewis died after being struck by a van on Dec. 4 in front of her home. Her granddaughter, Annette Brown said. The public is invited.
Ethel Lewis was widely known in Buxton and the surrounding area as the “glad lady.” Her husband Wilmot “Bill” Lewis said his wife had raised gladiolas at the farm for 30 years. He said she raised up to 10,000 gladiolas a year and sold them beside the road.
