Several students recently earned promotions at Northern Chi Martial Arts in Scarborough.
Chris Bagley of Cape Elizabeth and Matthew Morneau of Biddeford advanced to yellow belt status. Mark Fisher of Gorham, Kristine Grant of Westbrook and Rebecca Zub of Scarborough advanced to orange belt.
Sadie Lyons of Portland became a green belt, and Derrick Pinkham of Saco became a green-stripe belt.
All of the students train under the direction of Chief Instructor Kate Archambault’s direction, and have instructors including Carlo Giraulo.
Drew Cusson, Nicholas Martin, Slade Overcash and Thomas Vachon, all of Scarborough, and Evan Pednault of Westbrook reached the rank of yellow dragon stripe belt in Northern Chi’s Lil’ Dragon program for young children.
In addition, Janice Malay of Scarborough was the January Student of the Month and Nicholas Martin of Scarborough was named the February Student of the Month.
Also, Dan Labrie and Jim DiVirgilio of Scarborough, and Amber Merrill of South Portland recently earned advanced black belt degrees. All of the three are instructors at Northern Chi. Labrie and Merrill are now second degree black belts. DiVirgilio, the studio director, earned a third degree black belt.
