Absentee ballots ready
Buxton Town Clerk John Myers has announced absentee ballots are available for the municipal election, which is scheduled for 6 a.m.-8 p.m. on Tuesday, June 9, at Buxton Town Hall, 185 Portland Road.
In Maine, a resident may register to vote, and vote, up to and including Election Day. To register to vote, a photo ID and something proving a street address will be required.
The election of the moderator will take place at 5:30 a.m. on Tuesday, June 9.
The open town meeting/business meeting will take place at the Buxton Town Hall on Saturday, June 13, starting at 9 a.m. There are no absentee ballots for the town meeting; only voters in attendance will be able to vote on June 13. A copy of the warrant is available at the Town Hall and online at www.buxton.me.us. The annual town report will be available after the dedication ceremony on Wednesday, May 27.

Martin earns recognition
Meaghan Martin was recently named a distinguished finalist and received a bronze medallion in the Prudential Spirit of Community Awards.
Martin, a senior at Bonny Eagle High School, has raised $1,600 for breast cancer research and patient care by soliciting donations and pledges for her participation in equestrian competitions. Julie Galvin, a Prudential representative, presented Martin with the Prudential Spirit of Community medallion.
Cemetery group to meet
The Buxton Centre Cemetery Association for the Woodlawn Cemetery on the Groveville Road will hold its annual meeting at 7 p.m. on Thursday, May 21, at Buxton Town Hall, 185 Portland Road.
All lot owners, representatives and interested parties are welcome and encouraged to attend. Members attending will elect officers and a director, reports will be received and an auditor will be selected along with any other business.
