Michael Loring, of Windham, recently won the 2015 Maine Migratory Waterfowl Stamp Contest and will have his work appear on a postage stamp. Loring was one of 12 Maine artists who submitted work in the contest, which was judged at the State of Maine Sportsman’s Show in Augusta in late March.
Married to Wendy with two children, Tyler and Hunter, Loring is an active outdoorsman who enjoys bird hunting and fishing and has been painting for more than 30 years, focusing mainly on wildlife. He has done most of his work with the use of an airbrush creating murals on motorcycles, cars, trucks, snowmobiles and walls in homes and businesses.
He credits his grandparents Frank (now deceased) and Florence Hawkes and his parents Tim and Dianne Loring for his love of the Maine outdoors.
