Fern Lane was the proprietor of Lane’s Westbrook Shoe Store at 844 Main St. when this photo was taken in 1957. The Lane family also owned Lane’s City Hall Shoe Store on Congress Street in Portland. The Westbrook Store closed in the early 1960s. This building and the adjacent Parker’s Dress Shop at 846 Main St. were demolished to make way for a medical and professional building.
