A side order of class was served up during the ninth race at Scarborough Downs on Monday as the veteran pacer Order To Go made his southern Maine debut.

The 12-year-old son of Dexter Nukes has enjoyed a long and distinguished racing career. He debuted as an eight-time Ontario Sire Stakes winner during his three-year-old season, then later paraded victoriously in Charlottetown’s 1999 edition of the Gold Cup and Saucer.

Now campaigned under the red, white and blue colors of the Downey Racing Stable, Order To Go was unhurried behind the gate, content to sit back in the pack watching the youngsters playing catch-me-if-you-can.

Shuffled all the way back past the 3/4-marker, driver Michael Downey squeezed the class-master off the pylons – swinging to the far outside – and began gobbling up ground as the field thundered down the stretch.

Order To Go soon measured his way to the wire and posted his 40th lifetime win timed in 1:58 flat. The victory pushed his lifetime bankroll over the $500,000 level.

If class will tell, then Order To Go has plenty of tales that are worth listening to and his message was heard loud and clear earlier this week by harness racing fans at the Scarborough oval.
