In an article last week entitled “Speeding boats stir water, ire,” the term “head speed” was used incorrectly and should have been “headway speed.” Headway speed, defined as the lowest speed at which a boater can still maintain control of the boat, is the speed boaters are supposed to obey within a 200 foot, no-wake zone. Therefore, headway speed is not only legal, but required within that zone.
