The building in the photo on the left was constructed in the 1950s as the Kieckhefer Container Co., and later became the Weyerhaeuser box and container plant. Weyerhaeuser closed this facility several years ago and put the property up for sale.
Hannaford purchased the site, demolished the building and built a Hannaford supermarket on the back portion of the lot. The front portion of the lot was purchased by Saco & Biddeford Savings Institution, which is celebrating the grand opening of its new branch there Jan. 20-24.
