The Naples Public Library will kick off its summer reading program on Tuesday, June 27 and will run until Saturday, August 12.
The theme this year for pre-readers through grade 5 is “Paws, Claws, Scales and Tales.” The Library will have lots of exciting programs in store, including a visit from Spark’s Ark of Windham, who will be bringing eight kinds of live animals and birds. There will be even be an opportunity to participate in the Library’s float in the July 4th parade!
Weekly preschool storytimes will be held on Tuesdays at 10:30 a.m., which will include fun animal themes, crafts, games, puzzles and prizes! Kids of all ages are invited to two Chewonki events that are scheduled to coincide with this year’s theme: Fins & Flippers on Tuesday, July 12 at 7 p.m. and The Balance of Nature on Thursday, August 3 at 7 p.m.
A “Creature Feature” teen reading program will be offered as well with weekly activities for teens in grades 6-12. These activities will include a K-9 visit, Wild Animal Jeopardy and a Monstrous Construction contest! Teens will accrue “reading points” and there will be a raffle at the end of the program for those students that achieve 1,000 or more points. The raffle prizes will include movies passes, gift certificates, books and an iPod.
Each child who has completed the Summer Reading Program will be invited to join us for the End Of Summer Party.
