The Windham alpine ski team competed in a giant slalom event at Shawnee Peak on Wednesday, Feb. 7. The boys team did extremely well with five of the top seven finishers.
Matt Butler took second place (behind winner Greg Smith of Cheverus) followed by teammates Justin Lagassey (third), Joe Parent (fourth), Scott Gartsu (fifth) and Tyler Hjelm (seventh).
The girls top racer was Rhiannon Adams who placed 22nd.
Lake Region’s alpine team competed in a slalom event at Shawnee Peak on Monday. Taylor Powell had a top-10 finish for the boys team coming in third with a combined time of 1:31.68.
The Lakers’ Amy Tragert finished second with a time of 1:45.16 and teammate India Bell placed sixth with a clocking of 1:51.54.
The Lake Region nordic ski teams competed in the Western Maine Conference championship meets.
The boys were led by Beaudoin and Doughty. They finished 43rd and 45th respectively.
The girls had nice efforts from Ward and Adams – the top two Lakers across the finish line.
