The Cumberland Temple #87 Pythian Sisters of Westbrook is always interested in expanding its membership. They meet at 7:30 p.m. on the first and third Tuesday of each month at 145 New Gorham Road in Westbrook. Those wishing to join should call Virginia Elwell at 797-4199 or Marjorie Messenger at 839-3459.
Involved in community services, they raised $5,650 this year for “Make-A-Wish” Foundation that benefits children with life threatening medical conditions. The money was generated from two dinners with live auctions. The next one will be smothered beef with all the fixings in September at the Presumpscot Grange on Forest Avenue in Portland.
The Sisters also do special things for the Barron Center and the Whitney House in Portland.
