Five candidates are vying for two Gorham Town Council seats in the November election.
Gorham Town Clerk Christina Silberman said this week that council incumbents Michael Phinney and Jane Willett filed nomination papers as have challengers Harold “Butch” Freeman Jr., David J. Homa and Shonn R. Moulton. The deadline for filing was 4:30 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 23.
With three seats available for the Gorham School Committee, incumbent Steve Caldwell is seeking another term and Dennis C. Libby also filed nomination papers. School Committee members Bill Neily and Steve Morin didn’t take out nomination papers. Neily had served nine years and Morin three years.
Silberman said a write-in candidate could be elected to fill a third seat on the School Committee. She said the School Committee could appoint someone to fill a vacancy if no write-in candidate accepted the position.
The Town Council and School Committee seats are all three-year terms.
