City of Westbrook offices will be closed on Monday, Jan. 19, in observance of Martin Luther King Day.
Davis on duty
Army National Guard Pvt. Robert E. Davis has graduated from basic combat training at Fort Sill, Lawton, Okla.
Davis is the son of John Becker of Main Street, Westbrook, and nephew of Kelly Bushey of Falmouth Road, Windham.
During the nine weeks of training, Davis studied the Army mission and received instruction and training exercises in drill and ceremonies, Army history, core values and traditions, military courtesy, military justice, physical fitness, first aid, rifle marksmanship, weapons use, map reading and land navigation, foot marches, armed and unarmed combat, and field maneuvers and tactics.
Davis graduated from Windham High School in 2008.

Legion meeting rescheduled
This month’s meeting on Jan. 7 of the Stephen W. Manchester Post 62 of the American Legion has been rescheduled to Wednesday, Jan. 14, at its headquarters, 17 Dunn St.
Bob Barton, post spokesman, said Tuesday a beef tips dinner would be served at 6 p.m. followed by a meeting at 7 p.m. Tickets cost $8.
