Habitat for Humanity of Greater Portland is planning to build a second house in Naples and is seeking a qualified family to work with construction crews and eventually live in the new home.
Habitat will be hosting a meeting for interested families on Monday, May 15, from 7:15 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at Naples Town Hall.
Requirements for eligible families include: a willingness to “partner” with Habitat and participate by working a minimum of 350 hours in the construction of Habitat houses, currently living or working in Naples or one of the towns in the greater Lakes Region, currently living in substandard, temporary, or unsafe housing, and not eligible for a standard mortgage – with income between $24,000 and $40,000 per year currently and being in a position to assume the financial costs of the house with a 30-year, interest-free mortgage; in addition to paying the taxes and insurance on the house.
People who are interested and believe they are eligible must attend the meeting. Questions will be answered and application forms will be passed out. For more information, call Amy at Habitat for Humanity, 772-2151.
