On July 16, Referendum, a popular local a cappella group, returns to Windham Hill UCC during the second week of Music on the Hill’s Concert Series. The concert starts at 7 p.m. at the Windham Hill UCC church on Windham Center Road.

Referendum performed as a quintet – to rave revues – at the 2004 Music on the Hill. This year, the group’s tenor has moved out of state, but without missing a beat, they will continue vocalizing as a quartet.

Baritone Peter Allen of Referendum has appeared in many local theater productions, and will perform – along with alto Barbara Beckelman, Catherine Eliot, and soprano Shirsten Lundblad – an evening of a cappella music for your enjoyment.

The evening will include everything from jazz to pop standards, peace songs to gospel. Don’t miss Referendum’s resonant voices, rich harmonies, and rhythmic grooves!

On April 17, 2005, Referendum had a CD-release party in Portland. Some of the songs on this debut album, Referendum a capella, was recorded at last year’s Music on the Hill concert. These CDs will be available for purchase at the July 16 concert.

Tickets are $10 for adults, $8 for seniors (65+) and students (12 and under). Series Tickets are $35. Tickets may be purchased at the door, or in advance, at Little Sebago Gallery & Frame, 889 Roosevelt Trail, Windham, ME. Call 893-1777 for more information.
