A 37-year old Lewiston man fell from a roof while shingling in Portland last week and was taken to Maine Medical Center, according to Portland Police.
Lt. Vern Malloch said the roofer fell from the two-story building at 559 Brighton Ave. at 11:11 a.m. on Monday, Nov. 21. The man’s condition was unknown this week.
The incident is under investigation by the Occupational Safety and Health Administration. ////Anthony Lemire, area director of OSHA, said the man who fell worked for Topless Roofing and Siding Company but he declined to give an address for the company.////
A company by that name is located in Gorham. The company didn’t return phone calls from the American Journal.
Malloch said the man, who he identified as a roofing contractor, was stripping shingles. Police said the man landed between the Brighton Avenue building and the Cumberland Farms store.
Malloch said Portland Police notified the Occupational Safety and Health Administration about the incident. ///Karen Billups, assistant area director of OSHA,//// said an investigator was sent to the accident scene. The man fell about 25 feet, she said.
A Portland MEDCU official referred a call about the incident to Portland Police.
Police didn’t release the name of the man who fell.
