A woman was injured when a van landed beside a house on Narragansett Street after she lost control of the vehicle on July 24.

Lt. Chris Sanborn said Aasine Karlsen, 33, of Bedford, N.H., was traveling towards Gorham Village on Narragansett Street (Route 202) at about 10:30 a.m. when her van went off the road, hit a pole, crossed a lawn and “came to rest” beside the house at 146 Narragansett St. Sanborn said the utility pole was “completely sheared off” and had to be replaced replaced.

Sanborn said a young boy, who was a passenger in the 2005 Lexus van was apparently unhurt in the crash. Karlsen was transported to Maine Medical Center in Portland with some internal injuries, Sanborn said.

Sanborn said Officer David Kearns and Sgt. Robert Mailman responded to the incident. Mailman reconstructed the single-car accident. “The road was shut down completely for a couple of hours,” Sanborn said.

The accident damaged the siding on the home Narragansett Street home. A woman, who answered the phone at the house declined to give her name, but she said there was “very little” damage to the house.

The van also damaged landscaping at the home of neighbors Donna and Rick Dunbar. Donna Dunbar said the driver hit an oak tree, plowed down several plants and shrubs, and destroyed a rock wall.

Sanborn said the accident is still under investigation.
