A woman was rescued from a fire in her Lewis Street home Monday that was caused by an unattended candle. Westbrook Fire Capt. Chuck Jarrett said the fire started at around 7:45 p.m., when a candle ignited nearby combustible material. He said fire damage was mostly limited to the front entrance, though there was significant smoke damage throughout the house. The woman was assessed at the scene and was not transported to the hospital.
