Have you taken part in any outdoor activities this winter?

Scott Murray, 38, Standish

“Health issues kept me inside this winter. I had quintuple bypass surgery in June and I try to stay inside and keep warm. But I can understand how people could be disappointed because this winter was just blah! But I’m not complaining; I saved a lot of money on my heating bill.”

Sarah Lavallee, 18, St. Joe’s student

“I haven’t. Early this season, I went sledding with my friends, but that’s about it. When there’s not much snow, it limits my options. I did go ice fishing but the next day there wasn’t much ice left.”

Carol McClure, 62, Windham

“I’m not a winter person and we’re actually trying to become snowbirds. We’re just not sports people. Give me a rocking chair.”

Cynthia Dunne, 52, Harrison

The ice skating has been phenomenal. I live on a pond and I go whenever I can. It can be an almost spiritual experience being out on the pond by myself in the early morning. I love it.”

Adam Landry, 33, Windham

“My wife, kids and I build snowmen, snow forts, have snowball fights. We go skiing at Sunday River, go for snowshoe hikes in the woods. But this year there wasn’t as much snow to do anything with so we didn’t do much. Instead, we’ve been going to Jokers, Chuck E. Cheese’s, the movies, playing indoors.”

Todd Richardson, 41, Windham

“I haven’t even registered my sleds (snowmobiles) because there hasn’t been enough snow to ride. Even if we do get snow now, it’s too late for it to last. It’s kind of depressing. I’ve got a lot of money in sleds, and we have a camp up north. But there hasn’t even been enough snow up there.”
