Outlook: The Red Storm should show much improvement over last year when they were winless. They have a solid core and a new coach and that should lead to a few victories.

Runners to watch: Biz Ahern, junior; Whitney Chamberlain, junior; Libby Davis, sophomore; Melissa Dellatore, sophomore; Sarah Dugas, freshman; Hannah Freeman, freshman; Kathleen Given, senior; Ashley Jesseman, junior; Erin McElwain, junior

Coach’s outlook: “A very balanced team with two or three battling for the team’s top honors. It is the best pack of runners I have had for a long time. The team is eight to ten deep with just three seniors. The team began the season in great shape and won the SMAA relays. As the pack closes the gap on other teams’ top runners, we will become a stronger team. The sophomores and juniors have a lot of experience.”

Boys Cross Country

Coach: Jim Harmon (10th year)

Last year’s record: Undefeated all season- Class A State Champions

Runners to watch: Ben Violette, Craig Robinson, Sam Chick, Jay Vachon, Sean Griffin, Joe Prosack, Nick Violette, and Brad Nakanishi.

Coach’s outlook: “We should have a very good season and should finish in the top five at the state meet.”

Field Hockey

Coach: Kerry Mariello (6th year)

Last year’s record: 11-4-Lost in the quarterfinal round against Westbrook

Players to watch: Sarah Bonenfant, Brittany Ross

Coach’s outlook: “With 14 seniors graduating and only four returning starters we needed to fill quite a few gaps, but we feel we have put together the best group of talented athletes this program has ever had. Each position is solid and getting stronger day by day. We have very high expectations.”

Golf

Coach: Mike Murphy (19th year)

Last year’s record: 7-3-Missed state tournament

Players to watch: Senior Matt Gallagher, Senior Ben Waller, Junior Neil Ravin, Sophomore Andy Myers

Coach’s outlook: “We are extremely young with experience. We graduated our top five players from last year. We are trying to build upon each contest and practice.”

Boys Soccer

Coach: Mark Diaz (9th year)

Last year’s record: 13-0-1-Lost in state final in double overtime 1-0

Players to watch: Chris Kipp, Buddy Reid, Ian Philbrick, Nate Gove

Coach’s outlook: “We return only two starters from last year so we are counting on our juniors and sophomores to mature quickly. We hope to know by midseason if we can compete at a high level.”

Coach: Mike Farley (3rd year)

Last year’s record: 11-2-1-Lost in regional final

Players to watch: Alex Laniewski, Devon Leighton

Outlook: Scarborough is consistently one of the top teams in the league and this year should be no different. They could be the team to finally unseat Gorham as the top team in the west.
