Peter Profenno, the founder and visible owner of Profenno’s Pizzeria & Pub in Westbrook, died early Friday, Dec. 4.
An employee of the popular restaurant confirmed his death Friday.
Profenno’s has been a fixture on Main Street in Westbrook since it was established in 1962, serving pizza, but also numerous other favorites. Profenno’s also has a lively bar with regular events, and a function room. The restaurant turned 50 years old in 2012, and is a favorite stop for those living and working in Westbrook.
Profenno, 81, was still cooking at his restaurant this year. His wife of 58 years, Mary Profenno, died in February.
The couple had three sons, Michael Profenno, Daniel Profenno and Paul Profenno.
No funeral arrangements have been announced yet. This story will be updated.
