Have you ever wondered if your favorite swimming or fishing spot has clean water? The answer can often be found in the insects and other invertebrates that live there. Join the Portland Water District’s Nate Whalen as he introduces us to the fascinating world of Benthic Macro-Invertebrates (BMI’s), which are the insects, mollusks, and crustaceans found in lakes, ponds, and rivers. This program will be held at Lakes Environmental Association, 230 Main St., on Wednesday, May 25 at 6 pm. The event will start with a potluck supper and then at 7 p.m., Nate will present information on the BMI sampling he conducted on rivers that flow into Sebago Lake.
If you plan to attend this program, please bring a dish for the potluck supper and call 647-8580 to let us know you are coming. This program is part of the Anna and Kendal Ham Natural Resources of the Lake Region Series.
