Windham natives John Branson, left, and Sam Clark, right, stand on 4,100-foot Copper Mountain in Lake Clark National Park and Preserve in southwest Alaska. Branson, a son of the late Dr. Sidney Branson, grew up in South Windham and first went to Alaska on vacation in 1959. After graduating from Boston University in 1969, he taught school in Naknek, Alaska. He is a historian for Lake Clark National Park and Preserve and has edited several books.
