Westbrook’s fall baseball team, sponsored by Rookies Restaurant, jumped on Auburn in the first game of a double header Sunday, winning 3-2 before falling 5-4 in game two at Pettingill Park in Auburn.

Westbrook, which played in the Augusta League last season, has joined Portland’s Frozen Ropes league this fall. The Augusta league was disbanded temporarily because of field reconstruction.

In the Rookies’ win, Joe Cook (giving up six hits and one run) got the win on the mound with relief help from Eric Anderson and Matt Lampron.

Offensively, Zack Johnson scored a pair of runs for Rookies.

In the second game, Christian Hamilton gave up just two earned runs, but took the loss on the mound. Mike Nicholas came on and pitched three solid innings of shutout relief to keep Westbrook (now 1-3) close.

Alex Welch had a double and Travis Adams and Joe Cook had a pair of hits each for Westbrook.

Rookies plays next on Sunday, vs. Frozen Ropes House #1 (1 p.m. at the Legion Complex in Falmouth).

Games in the Frozen Ropes League are also played at Haverty Field, Poland High School, Blouin Field, and at Greely High School.
