Dahms named to dean’s list

Eric Dahms was named to the dean’s list at Bentley College for outstanding academic achievement for the spring semester at Bentley College in Waltham, Mass.

Dahms, who majored in marketing, graduated cum laude last month.

Bentley College honors Holmes

Jeffrey Holmes has been named to the dean’s list for outstanding academic achievement for the spring semester as a junior at Bentley College in Waltham, Mass.

Holmes is majoring in accounting.

Keirstead academy graduate

Andrew Keirstead graduated recently from Bridgton Academy in North Bridgton.

Keirstead is the son of Dwight Keirstead and Sally-Alane Fox of Westbrook.

A member of the academy’s baseball team, Keirstead also served as an admission ambassador. He will attend St. Joseph’s College.

Reading project

Two classes of second grade students at Prides Corner School recently participated in an independent reading project.

Their goal was to read 2,000 books during the school year.

A lucky ticket

The Highland Variety, 1275 Bridgton Road, sold the winning ticket worth $2.1 million in the Tri-State Megabucks drawing on Wednesday, June 14.

The Maine State Lottery said the winner selected the easy pick option and matched all six numbers, which were 3-14-26-28-34-37 with the bonus number 2. The store reaps $21,250 for selling the lucky winning ticket.

Bank art exhibit

Maine Bank and Trust, located at 790 Main St., is hosting an art exhibit through July 28.

Credit unions aid food pantries

On June 6, the Maine Credit Unions’ Campaign for Ending Hunger celebrated National Hunger Awareness Day by presenting $13,000 to 17 food pantries in Maine, one from each county and to The Good Shepherd Food Bank in Auburn and Brewer.

The second annual “Share the Bread” event was created by Maine’s credit unions to recognize the efforts of food pantries across the state and to bring awareness to the issue of hunger in Maine.

Jon Paradise of the Maine Credit Union in Westbrook said the organization has raised more than $2 million since 1990 to help end hunger in Maine.

Air Force honors Woodman

Kimberly Fale Woodman has been recognized as Volunteer of the Year 2006 by the 7th U.S. Air Force in Asia.

Woodman, 26, previously served in Korea and is now stationed in England.

She is the granddaughter of George and Harriet Woodman of Westbrook and the daughter of George and Phyllis Woodman of Golden, Colo.

Graduating from high school in Colorado, Woodman continued her education and has earned a master’s degree.

Strawberry festival Saturday

The Westbrook-Warren Congregational Church, 810 Main St., is sponsoring its second annual strawberry festival from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday, June 24.

The event includes craft tables, cooked food and strawberry shortcake.

Exhibit to feature garden art

The Warren Memorial Library is pleased to announce a garden art exhibit will open on Monday, June 26, and everyone is invited to an opening reception from 6:30-7:30 p.m.

This exhibit will feature the work of Fred Michel. Michel creates digital images he calls “garden art.” Michel describes his work as ” various flowers, leaves, and plant parts … collected, arranged, rearranged, disassembled, reassembled and combined to capture some of the colors, textures, beauty and frivolity that I see in my garden.”

Michel’s work previously has been shown in Westbrook’s Riverwalk Fine Arts Festival and O’Donal’s Art Show.

The Warren Memorial Library is located at 479 Main
