Artists will fill Riverbank Park with their work Saturday, Sept. 9, at the fifth annual Riverbank Fine Arts Festival, sponsored by the Westbrook Chamber of Commerce.

The event gets underway at 10 a.m. and will continue through 4 p.m. More than 50 artists are expected to participate with acrylics, pastels, oils, watercolors and photography.

After a hiatus, the festival returns to Riverbank Park this year, said Susan Eldridge of the Westbrook Housing Authority, the festival coordinator. “This location not only provides space for a large number of artists, but also food vendors and informational booths,” she said.

Eldridge says she hopes area residents will come to support local artists. Last year, the event was washed out by rain. While Eldridge is hoping for better weather this time, she’s taking no chances. The rain date is the next day, Sunday, Sept. 10.
