Well, do you think maybe the Town should have held off on the merger of regionalization? Now, the council says it will cost taxpayers “something in the order of $1,000,000 in the next two years.” Let me guess, the $210,000 to bind the legal contract with the county and the other $275,000 that the town claims we’ll save in taxes in the next two years by consolidating with the county.

It appears the town had every intention of moving forward with this consolidation whether or not the “speculative” signatures were gathered.

Somehow, this does not seem like a democracy but a dictatorship. What do you all think? The council just keeps blaming the people that gathered signatures for the petition to overrule the council’s decision, but will not accept any of the blame for their hasty decisions to move forward with the consolidation regardless of the petition being circulated.

It’s all up to you (the voters) now, the town attorney claims that legally the town has no obligation to change their decision to take back the recently hired county dispatchers and bring them back to Gorham, whether or not the vote is successful, to me that sounds like political suicide! Somehow, they weren’t included in the new public safety building “plans” that we have yet to be included in. If this is going to cost taxpayers more money, then I’d like to know about it wouldn’t you?

I’m very embarrassed and apologize to each and every one of you! We were led to believe that we could make a difference in believing our efforts would challenge their decision (after all, it is our CONSTITUTIONAL RIGHT as American Citizens) when in fact they can do what they want!!

I just want you all to know, I stand behind my decision to challenge their vote. Quite frankly, I’m tired of being their subject of criticism. We all make choices, and sometimes they’re not the right choice, but eventually we’ll all pay the consequences.

I would really appreciate it if all of the personal attacks on people within the town would stop. This is not what this was all about. I, as well as many others disagreed with the way this whole merger took place, but if you all have problems with the administration in the town of Gorham, then I suggest you properly address those issues with the people involved, and stop making this a mud slinging competition between them and us.
