Andree Martin, named one of Golf for Women magazine’s top 50 instructors the past three years, is coming back home to head up The Southern Maine Women’s Golf Association’s first annual Golf Clinic for Women on June 26. All proceeds will benefit its scholarship fund.

The clinic will be held at Biddeford-Saco Country Club and two sessions will be offered, one in the morning and one in the afternoon. It is open to women and girls of all abilities.

Martin began her golf career playing in SMWGA events. She went on to play for the University of South Florida, before beginning her career as a golf instructor. She resides in North Carolina, and offers personalized instruction to golfers throughout the Piedmont area.

A number of PGA and LPGA pros are donating their services for the day, and several began their golf careers playing in SMWGA-sponsored weekly tournaments.

Joining her are Anne McClure, PGA Pro at The Woodlands in Falmouth; Alyssa McIntyre, Assistant Pro at Sanford Country Club, and a former SMWGA member, Holly Anderson, PGA Pro at Columbia Country Club in Chevy Chase, MD. Anderson is a three time SMWGA Champion, and was inducted into the Maine Golf Hall of Fame in 2003; Lisa Jensen, Asst. Golf Coach at Rutgers University, and three time SMWGA champion, who was inducted nto the Maine Golf Hall of Fame in 2004; Abby Spector, Asst. Golf Pro at Val Halla Golf Club, and seven time WMSGA Champion; and Tim Angis, Head Professional at host club, Biddeford-Saco Country Club.

The clinics, one in the morning and one in the afternoon, are each limited to 60 players, and will focus on putting, sand and trouble shots, short game, and full swing. The clinics are open to women and junior girls of all levels of ability. Participants will be grouped according to their ability. Each session includes four hours of instruction and lunch. The cost is $100 for adults, $75 for girls under 18.

The proceeds from the clinic will benefit the SMWGA Scholarship Fund, which awards scholarships annually to women with an interest in golf who are pursuing advanced educational opportunities.
