A 76-year-old was in the emergency room Friday afternoon after driving his car into a house on High Street in Westbrook.
Thomas Murphy was driving down Myrtle Street, where he lives, when his car hit a curb and went airborne, hitting a fence and a tree before crashing into the house at 76 High St., according to eyewitness Jeremy McGowan.
“It was like the worst thunderstorm you could ever hear,” said neighbor Jeanie Devoe, who was the first to call the police.
No one was at the High Street home at the time of the accident, which Marquis said she’s grateful for, even though her house was damaged.
“I’m sitting here looking at it, and I can’t believe it,” Gooding said.
Murphy was transported to Maine Medical Center and was still in the emergency room as of 3:30 p.m. Friday.
