Marianne Sensale-Guerin, president of Guerin Companies, announced today the hiring of Tom Williams as chief operations officer.

“In just a few short years Guerin Companies has grown from one division to three, and from four employees to more than 20,” said Guerin. “More than ever we need a top quality COO like Tom to help manage our organization and make sure we continue to provide our customers with first-class service.”

As chief operations officer, Williams will manage the daily operations of Guerin’s three divisions as well as develop and execute plans for the company’s future growth.

“I am thrilled to become part of the Guerin team,” said Williams, a Gorham resident. “This is a great company, with a deserved reputation for putting its customers first. We are going to focus our efforts on expanding the ways we can even better serve them.”

Prior to coming to Guerin Companies, Williams owned and operated Williams and Towne Property Development. He also formerly owned and operated Williams Oil Company.

Also recently hired by Guerin Companies is Doug Gleason. As Guerin’s new Safety and Compliance Manager, Gleason is overseeing the compliance and safety operations for hazardous materials, response, transportation and disposal. A former vice president and general manager for Plan-it Recycling and Transfer Inc., Gleason is also responsible for running Guerin’s safety and training program.

Founded in 2001, Guerin Companies is headquartered on 332 New Portland Road in Gorham. Its Oil Division services more than 3,500 customers throughout Cumberland and York counties. Its Property Division focuses on property management, and its Guerin Associates Division offers comprehensive environmental services, including removal, replacement, cleaning, inspection, and retrofitting of fuel storage tanks.

Guerin’s president, Marianne Sensale-Guerin, received the national 2005 SBA Small Business Person of the Year Award.
