Benefit bottle drive for Bushey
A bottle drive on Jan. 6 will benefit a Westbrook School Department bus driver, who has suffered an illness.
Penny Esposito, transportation director, said the drive is for Carol Bushey, who drove bus No. 18. “She has suffered a catastrophic illness and has not been able to work this school year as a bus driver,” Esposito said.
Esposito said the Brighton Avenue Redemption Center has graciously agreed to accept returns at any time. “Just mention that it’s for the Bottles for Bushey Fund,” she said.
Volunteers will canvass the city on Jan. 6 in behalf of the fund. Those wishing to make donations can send their checks or cash to “Bottles for Bushey,” Treasurer Penny Esposito, 117 Stroudwater St.,Westbrook, Maine, 04092.
Esposito said Bushey drove primarily on the south side of the city for students at Canal and Saccarappa schools in addition to thejunior high.
“Any help in her name is welcomed and appreciated,” Esposito said.
Gardeners to meet
Prides Corner Garden Club will meet at noon on Wednesday, Dec. 19 for the annual Christmas party with Santa and potluck at Prides Corner Church, 35 Pride St.

Angels We Have Heard on High’ at Trinity
Trinity Lutheran Church, 612 Main St., invites the community to join members for their Christmas pageant at 4 p.m. on Sunday.
The pageant has a range of cast members from the young Sunday school children to the older adults and perhaps an animal or two.

Libraries collaborate with Maine Humanities Council
The Walker Memorial and Warren Memorial Libraries have been awarded a “Let’s Talk About It” reading and discussion program grant from theMaine Humanities Council.
The program will begin in January and will run through May. Meetings will be held alternately at each library. Reading selections for the series are now available to borrow at either library.
The series, Detective Fiction in the 20th Century, will
feature reading selections from Arthur Conan Doyle, Dorothy Sayers, Robert Parker and other popular authors. The Maine Humanities Council supplies all of the reading materials, which can then be borrowed from either library.
A scholar/ facilitator will also be available to help with each discussion. Professor Michael Bachem will facilitate this series.
Bachem is a professor of humanities at Miami University (Ohio). He is semi-retired and lives in Portland. He trained as a facilitator with the Maine Humanities Council.
Those interested should contact the Walker Memorial Library at 854-0630 or the Warren Memorial Library at 854-5891 for a complete listing of meeting dates and reading selections. The size of the discussion group will be limited to 25 participants.

Marcigliano, Fallis wedding
Krista Rae Marcigliano and Christopher Fallis were married at the Eastland Park Hotel on Oct. 8.
One hundred-fifty family and friends joined the wedding party.
The bride, daughter of John and Nancy Marcigliano of Westbrook, graduated from Westbrook High School in 1998 with high honors. The groom is the son of Linda Laferriere of Smithfield, R.I., and Peter Fallis of Delray Beach, Fla.
Krista and Chris met at Northeastern University in Boston, where she earned her doctor of pharmacy degree and he earned a bachelor’s degree in architecture.
They recently returned to their home in Fredricksburg, Va., following a two-week honeymoon in Italy.
Krista Rae Marcigliano and Christopher Fallis were married on Oct. 8.
