The Windham boys took second place last week in the Class A Alpine state championship with 95 points. Edward Little just edged them out for the title with 89. On the way to their runner-up finish, Matt Butler claimed the top spot in the giant slalom with a time of 1:29.55.

Last Tuesday in the giant slalom, the Eagles scored 43 points. Butler’s win was worth one point. He had runs of 43.25 seconds and 46.30 seconds to win the event by less than a second over Nolon Steel of Camden Hills. Justin Lagassey was 12th for the Eagles with a time of 1:34.89. David Brackett was 13th in 1:35.52. The fourth Windham finisher was Joseph Parent, who finished 17th with a time of 1:36.59.

The following day in the slalom, Edward Little recorded 42 points to Windham’s 52 to beat them out for the top spot. Alex Markellos of Cheverus won the event in 1:28.19. Edward Little’s Mitchell Snowe was second. The Red Eddies also had Sam Armstrong finish fourth, Branden Lever was 15th and Clark Chamberlain was 21st.

The Eagles’ top finisher was Lagassey, who finished seventh in 1:32.10. He was followed by Butler who was eighth, Brackett finished 18th and Parent was 19th to give Windham their 95 points.
